About the Company

REACH – A Dance Theater Collective is dedicated to preserving the roots of jazz dance while promoting its continued growth and evolution. The company’s repertoire, however, also draws from modern, ballet, funk, and ethnic dance. More and more people across South Florida are discovering and becoming captivated by the energy and diversity of REACH’s exciting and original programs. The company is available for special events, fund raisers, and educational outreach.

Maria Konrad

Director, Resident Choreographer

Maria Konrad graduated from the Dreyfoos High School of the Arts in West Palm Beach and then earned her BFA in Performing Arts at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She performed in various productions throughout the Philadelphia area including the Barrymore Awards, The Philadelphia Fringe Festival, The Merriam Theater, and Project Dance – Philadelphia. Her choreography was featured in West Side Story, Hello Dolly, Annie Get Your Gun, Project Dance, The Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. As a teacher in Philadelphia, Ms. Konrad created the early-dance-education curriculum for the school of the Koresh Dance Company.

Currently, Ms. Konrad teaches jazz dance at Boca Ballet Theater, Florida Dance Conservatory, Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts (Theater and Dance Departments) and The Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton.

Danielle Armstrong

Company Manager, Choreographer

Danielle began her training at the age of 4 in upstate New York under the direction of Tina Price. An honors graduate from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, Ms. Armstrong received her BFA in Dance Performance and her BA in Communications and Media Studies. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City and began teaching at Peridance Centre. Her choreography was chosen to debut the Perichild Youth Ensemble at The Dancers Responding to AIDS benefit at St. Marks Church. In addition to working with many freelance choreographers, such as Robert Battle (formally of Parsons Dance Company and Battleworks), Danielle began her own dance group performing at venues such as Ballet Builders at the Florence Gould Hall, The Blue Muse Project at Riverside Church, Jennifer Muller, ‘The Works’ and The International Dance Festival at The Duke Theater on 42nd Street. In 2002 she became a certified Pilates instructor under the tutelage of Joseph Pilates protégé, Romana Kyrzanoska and subsequently completed over 600 hours of teacher training.

Danielle has taught dance and Pilates in New York, Connecticut, South Carolina and now Florida. In addition to performing and choreographing for REACH, she is currently teaching ballet and modern at the Atlantic Arts Academy. She teaches Pilates at both Pilates & Gyrotonic Jupiter and The Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton.
